• Description

An 8mm & 16mm film experiment made during the year of Covid-19 around the time I moved back to Taiwan from Japan. I shot 8mm footage during the state of emergency in Japan and just after moving back to Taiwan. I then spent several months cutting and pasting each 8mm frame onto 16mm film. Sometimes the daily fragments were too sentimental, but the film gave me shelter.

8mm와 16mm 실험 영화는 내가 일본에서 대만으로 돌아갈 즈음 코로나19가 발생한 해에 만들었다. 일본에서 긴급상황이 발생했을 때 그리고 대만으로 돌아간 직후 8mm 영상을 촬영했다. 그리고 나는 여러 달을 각각의 8mm 프레임을 16mm 필름에 자르고 붙이며 보냈다. 때로는 일상의 단편들이 너무 감상적이기도 했지만 영화는 내게 안식처를 주었다.

• Bio

Johan Chang (b. 1990, Tainan, Taiwan) has been working in documentary film festivals/organizations and producing documentaries for many years. She started to make her personal projects in 2019 at Image Forum’s courses in Tokyo, Japan. Her work explores the expression of moving images to address memory, image-making, hand-made process, and diary films. She is also a member of ReaRflex (Taiwan) and Ground Rebel/Level Cinema (Japan). Johan is currently based in Taipei, Taiwan.

조한 창(1990년생, 타이난, 대만)은 여러해 동안 다큐멘터리 영화제 및 기관에서 일해 왔으며, 다큐멘터리를 제작해 왔다. 그녀는 2019년 일본 도쿄에서 열린 이미지 포럼 강좌에서 개인 프로젝트를 시작했다. 그녀의 작업은 기억, 이미지 메이킹, 수작업 과정 및 일기 영화를 다루기 위해 무빙 이미지의 표현을 탐구한다. 그녀는 또한 리어플렉스(대만) 및 그라운드 레블/레벨(일본)의 회원이다. 요한은 현재 대만의 타이페이에서 활동하고 있다.
