Nazarbazi (the play of glances) is a film about love and desire in Iranian cinema where depictions of intimacy and touch between women and men are prohibited.

나자르바지 (눈길 놀이)는 여성과 남성 사이의 친밀감과 접촉에 대한 묘사가 금지되어있는 이란 영화에서의 사랑과 욕망에 관한 영화다.

• Bio

Maryam Tafakory (b. Iran) is an artist filmmaker whose textual and filmic collages interweave poetry, documentary, archival, and found material. She is based between London and Shiraz. Her broader research explores depictions of erasure, secrecy, [un]touchable, and [un]spoken prohibitions. She has an ongoing body of essayistic videos on representations of women [lack thereof] in Iranian post-revolution cinema.

She studied her MFA at Ruskin School of Art, Oxford University, and her work has been exhibited internationally including; MoMA Doc Fortnight, Rotterdam IFFR; True/False; Edinburgh EIFF; Melbourne MIFF; Zurich Film Festival; Whitechapel Gallery; Hamburg IKFF; ICA London; BFI London; Ji.hlava IDFF; Kurzfilmtage Winterthur; and Anthology Film Archives NY.
