“The landscape of the West Bank – physical and sociopolitical – is circumscribed by a bewildering network of dead ends, void zones and perimeters. The term kissing point is used to describe the points where the two (enemy) territories must touch, must make contract, for the land to be shared. Sexual metaphor in which kissing points to a contentious boundary in the struggle over ownership and control.” – PA

Kissing Point is a 15-minute double-projection video portrait of place and time that glides, in stops and starts, across mostly nighttime images and sounds of a shopping center, construction site, living room and disco as well as the network of bypass road and underway, road block and dead end forming separate geographies on the same landscape.

Peggy Ahwesh (b. 1954 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is a media artist who got her start in the 1970’s with feminism, punk and Super 8mm filmmaking. She is recognized for her use of a palette of technologies and practices to create the textures and aesthetics required for the subject matter of her moving image, installation, photography and other works.

She is Emeritus Professor in Film and Electronic Art at Bard College, New York. Peggy Ahwesh currently lives and works between Brooklyn, New York and the Catskills.
