<벤자민의 숲>은 ‘이야기 없는 이야기’를 시도한 영상이다. 불특정 사건의 바깥, 사건 이전 혹은 이후, 예감 혹은 기척에 집중하며, 인물의 상태나 심리적 영역이 주축이 되는 영상을 만들고자 했다. 이 인물은 불확실성으로 채워진 세계에 안착한 듯 보이며, 실재하는 것과 실감하는 것 사이의 간극을 경험한다. 이러한 경험은 그의 의도나 의지와 무관하게 출몰하는 이미지, 목소리들과 관계를 맺는다. 영상에서 연동되는 이미지와 이미지, 이미지와 텍스트 사이 거리와 작용을 실험하며, 장면들 사이의 조응과 불화, 의미의 생성과 무화를 응시하는 방식으로, 인물이 고요히 경험하는 잡음과 교란의 세계를 펼쳐보고자 했다.

<Benjamin's Woods> is a video that attempts to tell a ‘story without a story’. Focusing on the exterior surrounding an unspecified event, before or after, and its premonitions or signs, the work tries to create a video that centers around its character’s state of being, or his psychological domains. This character who seems to have settled in a world full of uncertainty experiences a gap between the real and the felt. This experience establishes a relationship with emerging images and voices, regardless of his intentions or will. The work experiments with the distances and reactions between images and images, or images and texts that are interlinked in the video. It tries to unfold the world of noise and disturbance that the character quietly experiences, by showing the harmony and disharmony of the scenes and by staring at the creation and annihilation of the meanings.
