플레이타임은 토론도 애니메이트 이미지 소사이어티의 지원 프로젝트의 일환으로 1953~1960년 사이에 활동했던 추상예술가의 단체인 ‘페인터 11’의 작품을 애니메이션으로 표현한 것이다. 내 영화는 특별히 작고한 잭 맥도날드의 삶과 그의 작품이 보여준 구상과 추상의 세계를 오마주한 것이다. 이 영화는 35mm 필름의 표면위에 할리우드 영화 트레일러를 직접 붙이거나 채색하는 등 다양한 표현방법으로 만든 것이다. (스티븐 올로센)
I created Playtime in 2009 as part of The Toronto Animated Image Society's funded project to bring the Group 11 Painters alive with animation. My film was an homage to the life and art of Jock MacDonald. This film was created with paint and decayed frames of Hollywood trailers glued directly onto the surface of 35 mm film strips.
