Description

이 영화의 배경은 도시 재건축을 위해 지금은 사라져 버린 "골프연습장", "동대문운동장", "현저동 무허가집촌", "배다리 지역", "아현동 주택가"이다. 영화는 정체를 알 수 없는 공터에서 이전의 공간을 암시하는 행위를 보여준다. 이 행위는 사라진 장소와 사건들을 들추어낸, 지금, 우리 도시의 자화상이다.

The setting of these films concern the demolishment of a “Driving Range,” “Dongdaemoon Stadium,” “Hyeonjeo-dong,” Vaedari,” and finally “Ahyeon-dong.” These vacant lots serve as the loci for the performances occurring in these films. The purpose of these films is to memorialize these once-active vacant lots that are now in the state shown.

Bio

박용석은 현대의 도시공간을 탐색하며 그 속에서 목격되고 경험되는 풍경과 현상에 대하여 작업해 오고 있다. 특히 보이지 않는 규범에 의해 관습화된 도시모습과 그로 인해 소비되고 버려져 방치되는 것들, 혹은 그거의 이미지들을 작품의 재료로써 수집한다. 작가는 사진, 설치, 영화, 공공미술 등 다양한 장르를 넘나들며 작업하고 있다.

Park Young-Seok has constantly worked with urban scenes and phenomena, discovered while exploring modern cityscapes. He exploits conventionalized urban scenes, the consumed and discarded, and their images as his work’s subject matter. Park has worked in a wide range of mediums from photography and installation and film and public art, blurring their boundaries.
