홍철기와 샌디 딩은 즉흥음악 연주자이자 실험영화감독으로, 많은 연주회에 참여하고 있다. 이번 공연은 국내의 유일한 즉흥음악 공간인 닻올림의 정기 공연 시리즈의 일환으로 솔로 연주와 협연을 선보이게 된다.

‘닻올림’은 2006년 10월 진상태에 의해 설립된 회사의 이름이다. 같은해 11월 일본 투어에서 오토모 요시히데(Otomo Yoshihide, 大友良英)의 사무실 겸 공간 ‘GRID605’에서 공연할 때 좁은 공간을 공연장으로 사용할 때의 밀도와 여러 가지 장점들에 감명받아 자신의 사무실에서 즉흥음악을 중심으로 한 소규모 공연장 및 레코딩 공간을 운영할 계획을 세우게 되었으며, 공연장의 이름도 그의 회사 이름을 딴 ‘닻올림’이라 부르게 되었다. 공연장으로서의 닻올림은 2008년 2월에 첫 연주회를 시작했으며, 즉흥음악을 중심으로 즉흥음악및 관련되어 같이 협연될 수 있는 다른 종류의 예술들과의 만남을 시도하는 ‘닻올림 연주회’라는 이름의 공연시리즈를 100회 넘게 진행해오고 있다.
dotolim is the name of a small business occupying a small office space, established in 2006 in Seoul by Jin Sangtae. In November 2006, Jin visited GRID605, a similarly small office space that also served as a performance venue for musician Otomo Yoshihide. Inspired by Otomo’s example of utilizing a business space as a performance venue, Jin followed suit with dotolim in 2008. dotolim is a very small space, with a capacity for only 20 people; this creates an intimate connection between performers and audience members. Jin Sangtae has presented concerts at dotolim nearly every month since then, over 100 concerts to date. The ‘dotolim concert series’ seeks to connect improvised music to all of the arts, and to new audiences.
Bio
즉흥음악 연주자이자 노이즈 음악가로 1976년 서울 출생. (카트리지를 제외한) 턴테이블, 믹서 피드백, 노트북 등과함께 다른 전기-전자장치를 악기로 사용하고 있으며 1997년 최준용과 한국 최초의 노이즈 음악 그룹인 아스트로노이즈astronoise를 결성했고, 이후 공연과 음반 발매 등 왕성한 활동을 기반으로 실제 음향을 발생시키거나 전기-전자적 소음을 산출하는 대상들을 이용한집단적인 비-관습적 즉흥음악에 대한 관심과 이해를 발전시키는데 전념하고 있다.
Hong, Chulki was born in 1976 and he lives in Seoul, South Korea. He was so into guitar noise and feedback that he brought up the idea of forming a noise project with Choi, Joonyong in 1997. In the early days of Astronoise, Chulki played guitar making only howling feedback sound. He has released three solo albums(including one web release). ‘No Silence’ is made with mixing board feedback and ‘Surface & Feedback'(released by Manual) and ‘without cartridge, with cartridge’ are made with turntable.
샌디 딩 Sandy Ding은 중국 베이징 출신 노이즈 아티스트이자 실험 영화 감독이다. 그는 몇 년 동안 신디사이저를 만들고 부수기를 반복해왔고 그의 밴드 ‘리퀴드 팰러스 Liquid Palace’는 베이징 언더그라운드 음악계에서 잘 알려진 노이즈 밴드이다.
Sandy Ding is a noise artist and an experimental filmmaker from Beijing China. He has been making and breaking electronic synthesizers for a few years. His band Liquid Palace is a well-known noise band in Beijing underground music scene.
