로르샤흐 잉크 반점 검사(Rorschach Inkblot Test)는 1921년 스위스의 정신과 의사 헤르만 로르샤흐가 개발한 심리 검사 방법으로 좌우대칭 이미지가 있는 카드 10장으로 이루어져 있다. 피험자는 카드의 이미지를 보고 자신이 느끼는 점을 자유롭게 말한다. 이 검사는 조현병 진단에 쓰였고 나치 전범들의 심리 상태를 알고자 비공식적으로 행해지기도 했다. 비과학적이라고도 여겨지지만, 지금도 쓰이고 있으며 논쟁의 여지가 많은 검사이다. “로르샤흐”를 줄여서 한국에서는 대개 "로샤"라고 부른다. 필름 <로샤>는 동명의 여자아이가 들려주는 이야기이다. 10개의 로르샤흐 테스트 이미지를 16mm 흑백 필름에 레이오그램 방식으로 프린팅한 작업에서 잉크 반점 이미지들은 겹쳐지고 분절되어 필름에 자국을 남긴다. 필름이 영사되면 이 이미지들은 겹쳐지고 분절되고 흐르고 사라졌다 다시 나타나면서 로샤가 구사하는 언어와 비언어 사이의 글로솔랄리아*가 된다.

*글로솔랄리아: 때로는 종교적 맥락에서 해석되는, 존재하지 않는 언어로 구사하는 ‘이해할 수 없는, 알아들을 수 없는 말’을 지칭한다.

The Rorschach Inkblot Test was created by Hermann Rorschach, a Swiss psychiatrist, in 1921. The test employs a series of ten inkblot cards, and the test taker is asked to provide their perceptions or perspectives on the presented images. The test was considered effective in identifying and diagnosing schizophrenia and was administered to Nazi war criminals in an attempt to understand the Nazi personality. Often criticized as pseudoscience, the Rorschach is still used and remains controversial. The test is often referred to as Ro-sha (short for Rorschach) in Korea. The film Rosha tells stories spoken by a girl named Rosha. It is a photogram of the ten inkblot images on B&W 16mm film. The images overlap and break apart, leaving impressions on the film surface. When the film is projected, the printed inkblots turn into Rosha's glossolalia,* which lies between language and non-language.

*Glossolalia: often understood in a religious context, it refers to incomprehensible speech in an unknown or imaginary language.
