이 작품은 제작 과정에서 1만 6천번의 스플라이스를 거쳤다. 이 작품은 사적 아카이브에 대한 두서 없는 재정리이자 잊혀진 이미지들에게 주는 재탄생의 기회이기도 하다. 35mm 사진과 동영상이 집착적으로 쪼개진 후에 무작위로 재조합되고 프레임단위로 다시 스플라이스 되어서 변화하는 패턴을 보여준다. 인도로의 수학여행 장면에서 2005년 홍콩 WTO 정상회담 반대시위 장면으로 이어진다. 영화제작 과정의 부조리함과 전세계 무역과 영화제작의 관계 대한 탐구를 통해 이 작품은 끝없는 정보의 흐름을 증류하여 상대적으로 감당할 수 있는 형태로 만들고자 했다. 작가의 사적인 사진들은 모두 잘려서 한데 뒤섞였지만, 최소한 이제는 모두 한 자리에 있는 것이다. 스트리밍 시대를 위한 단테의 <지옥> 편이며 현대의 클라우드를 위해 마련된 이동의 자유이기도 하다.
A film sixteen thousand splices in the making. E-Ticket is a frantic (re) cataloging of a personal archive and an opportunity for rebirth to forgotten images. 35mm photographs and moving pictures are obsessively cut apart, reshuffled then tape spliced together frame by frame in evolving patterns. Views swipe between a school trip to India then culminate with a protest of a 2005 World Trade Organization summit in Hong Kong. In an exploration of the absurdity of the filmmaking process and its connection to global trade, this is my handmade means of distilling an unending flow of information into a more manageable form.  My photographs may have all be cut up and mixed around, but at least they’re all in one place now. A retelling of Dante's Inferno for the streaming age; freedom of movement reserved for the modern cloud.

사이먼 리우는 홍콩과 영국에서 자랐고, 현재는 미국 브루클린에서 거주하고 있다. 그의 영화, 설치, 및 16mm 다중영사 퍼포먼스 작품은 세계 각지의 영화제와 기관에서 상영된 바 있다. 그는 현재 쿠퍼 유니온 예술 대학에서 가르치고 있으며, 아티스트 런 필름 랩인 네거티브 랜드 MPL의 멤버이기도 하다. 그는 2019년 제롬 힐 아티스트 기금 수상자이며 2018년 NYSCA/웨이브 팜 미디어 아트 기금 수상자이기도 하다. 현재 그는 자신의 첫 장편 작품의 포스트-프로덕션 작업을 하고 있다.
Simon Liu was raised between Hong Kong and Stoke-On-Trent, UK and now lives in Brooklyn, USA. Liu’s films, installations and 16mm multiple projection performances have been presented at film festivals and institutions internationally including the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Toronto International Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, Edinburgh IFF, Hong Kong IFF, M+ Museum, Tai Kwun Contemporary, CROSSROADS @ SFMoMA, Yale University, Festival du Nouvéau Cinéma, Maryland Film Festival, Hamburg Kurzfilmtage, Light Industry, EMAF, EXiS, IMAGE FORUM and Dreamlands: Expanded with the Whitney Museum of American Art & Microscope Gallery. Liu is an Adjunct Faculty member at the Cooper Union School of Art and is a member of the artist-run film lab Negative land MPL. He is a 2019 Jerome Hill Artist Fellow and a recipient of the NYSCA / Wave Farm Media Arts Assistance Fund in 2018. Liu is currently in post-production on his first feature film, Staffordshire Hoard.
