폰투스 훌텐의 X는 기하학적 배열된 애니메이션과 홈 무비를 연상시키는 사진적 장면이라는 두 부분으로 구성되어 있다. 기하학적 형태의 작업에서 홀튼은 밝은 원색 도형들의 패턴과 대비를 리드미컬하게 변주하며 이를 재즈와 어우러지게 하는 방식으로 형태에 대한 비유를 그려낸다.  사진적 작업 부분은 여러 종류의 가족사진이 다양한 사람들을 보여준다. 1960년에 발간된 ‘스웨덴 실험영화 스튜디오' 카탈로그에는 이 작품이 완성되지 않은 것으로 나와있다.
Pontus Hultén’s X consists of both animated, geometric sequences and photographic scenes reminiscent of home movies. In the geometric portion, Hultén works with the rhythmic displacement of contrasts and patterns in bright primary colors. Geometric images are intertwined with jazz to illustrate the analogy of form. The photographic portions consists of various family scenes. Arbetsgruppen’s film catalog from 1960 lists the work as incomplete.
