Description

사막은 종종 자원 고갈과 기후 변화로 인해 황폐화된 세계 또는 생명에 적대적인 외계 세계를 시뮬레이션하기 위해서 동원된다. 풍경에 적용된 시각적 필터는 사막을 바라보는 관습적 인식을 강화하며 자연 세계의 기술적 재현과 자연 그 자체가 인위적 변형으로부터 분리될 수 없음을 강조한다. 깊은 시간, 불안정한 현재, 상상된 미래의 유령 같은 얽힘이 풍경에 출몰하며 영화는 다큐멘터리와 기후 픽션, 인공과 자연, 생명과 무생명 사이를 오가는 기이한 행성간 여행으로 전개된다.

The desert is often mobilised in science fiction films to simulate worlds ravaged by resource depletion and climate change or outer worlds hostile to life. A visual filter applied to the landscape intensifies the conventional perception of the desert, accentuates that technological representation of nature and nature itself are inseparable from man-made transformation. Ghostly entanglement of deep time, unsettling present and imagined future haunt the landscape, the film unfolds into a bizarre interplanetary journey that oscillates between documentary and climate fiction, nature and artificial, life and non-life.

Bio

안상범 (b.1991)은 골드스미스 런던대학교에서 아티스트 필름 무빙 이미지를 공부하고 서울과 런던을 기반으로 작업하고 있으며, 현재 다학제적 콜렉티브 ‹Ecological Reparation›의 멤버이다. 가속화되는 기술과 생태 변화의 불안정한 문턱의 순간들로부터 출발하는 그의 작업은 인간과 비인간 그리고 인간 이상의 세계 사이의 복잡한 얽힘을 탐구하는데 중점을 두고 있다.

Sangbum Ahn (b. 1991) is a South Korean artist and filmmaker based in Seoul and London. He completed his master at MA Artists’ Film and Moving Image at Goldsmiths, University of London and is currently a member of the interdisciplinary collective, Ecological Reparation. Beginning with the unsettling moments of accelerated ecological and technological transformation, his works focus on the complex entanglements of human, non- human and more-than-human worlds.
